Small WC / Downstairs Toilet

Spread the love

When we bought this house I was really pleased that it had a downstairs toilet.

Our previous house did not have this luxury so this was one of the things on my wish list.

The décor in the toilet, as with the rest of the house, was brown!  Also it is partly under the stairs so it did have the underneath of the steps showing in an alcove behind the toilet.

Our handy man said it was best to box this off and re-tile.

I was not so sure about this as the wc would actually be made a bit smaller and had my doubts.

Lovely Brown Tiles …Yuck!

But we listened and let him do it how he thought best and we had absolutely no regrets – he was right and I really love how it turned out in the end.

White Tiles & Black Mosaic Trim

Whilst it is not the largest WC in the world we were still able to update it with a nice clean and modern design.

Small Spaces – WC Makeover

Downstairs WC ...

We chose plain white tiles with a black mosaic trim and large grey tiles we had left over from the bathroom.

And the little sink unit we found fit beautifully.

It helps that it is mounted and raised off the floor – this gives a little bit more space than if it had been floor standing.

Recessed Alcove Feature

I really like the little alcove feature that he made behind the toilet.

The flower and birds picture was hand painted using water colours and framed in a white Ikea Ribba shadow box frame.

The cream and blue flowers are just soaps that I found at a local craft fair.

There is only so much you can do with such a tiny space but I was pretty pleased with the end results.
